Public Access Barrister in London – Anna Walsh
Since July 2004, members of the public are now able to instruct a barrister directly without having to go through a solicitor or recognised third party. The advantages of this are that not only will you receive specialist legal advice but you will save money in circumstances where you are confident that you do not need to use a solicitor.
The Bar Council has permitted me to carry out this type of work and I am therefore able to:
- Advise you on your legal status or rights;
- Draft and send documents for you;
- Represent you in court;
- Negotiate on your behalf;
There are limits on the types of work that I can do on your behalf and there are still some cases and situations in which you will need to instruct a solicitor or another intermediary as well as a barrister. However, for many cases the public access scheme allows you to go directly to the expert barrister for advice, representation and drafting.
